Immigration and Citizenship

One of the qualities that make the Coastside so unique is our culturally diverse population. Many of our neighbors are from Mexico, Portugal, and the Philippines. They work hard to provide for themselves and their children.

Coastside Hope provides support to clients and their families who live and work on the Coastside and are seeking permanent residency. Many of them want to become Americans, but find navigating the legal system can be overwhelming.

Lorena Galindo-Perez, Paralegal – Immigration BIA Accredited Representative, and Judith Guerrero, immigration assistant, help make the process manageable and rewarding.

With support from a Zellerbach Foundation grant, Anthony Moss teaches weekly citizenship classes at Coastside Hope. We are happy to report that 59 of our students became U.S. citizens in Fiscal Year Ending 2011.
